Registration Information

How do I register for classes?

You must register on CyberBear.  If you need CyberBear login instructions, visit the instruction page.

Once you are logged into CyberBear, click the Student Services tab to go to your Profile Page. Under your profile picture there are a list of links; click the Registration link and choose the term you wish to register for.

Click Register for Classes.  You may be asked to reconfirm the term and provide your advising PIN. If you don’t have your advising PIN, contact your advisor.  Graduate students and post-baccalaureate students do not require advising PINs.  Undergraduate students must get a new advising PIN before registering for each Autumn and Spring term.

You can choose courses one by one or import an existing class plan.

For more information on how to register for classes, please refer to the Register for Classes document.

When is the earliest I can register for classes?

Continuing and returning undergraduate students as well as new graduate students may register during the priority registration period. Refer to the Priority Class Registration Timetable page for details and timely updates.  For your specific registration start time, view your time ticket in CyberBear.

To view your time ticket, log in to CyberBear and go to your Student Profile.  Change the semester to the term you plan to register for in the top left corner.  Your page will refresh.  Then, click Registration Notices.  Your time ticket will show “From” and “To” dates.  The “From” date/time is the earliest you can register.

New freshmen and transfer undergraduate students at UM or Missoula College register for the first semester as part of their freshman and transfer orientation programs.

If you need further assistance, see the Registrar’s Office.

When is the latest I can register for classes?

Class registration remains open on CyberBear through the seventh class day or the equivalent for short sessions.  Specific dates are posted on the Office of the Registrar's calendar pages.  However, students may continue to register via CyberBear through the fifteenth class day (or equivalent) with instructor permission.  Instructors grant permission using digital registration overrides, but may do so at their discretion.

How do I register after the deadline?

If you are not registered for any classes by the fifteenth class day (or equivalent for short sessions), you will need to request to register after the deadline.  The Request to Register & Pay After Deadline form is hosted on the Office of the Registrars forms page under Registration Forms.  It must be submitted by the student and requires instructor(s) permission.  Requests are reviewed throughout the semester and processing times vary.  Approval is not guaranteed.  If approved, the student must be prepared to pay immediately.

How do I change my name?

Visit the Registrar’s Office webpage for name changes.

Where do I get CyberBear questions answered?

  • Registration Questions = Registrar’s Office
  • Billing Questions = Student Accounts
  • Faculty/Advisor Web = Registrar’s Office
  • Employee Web = Human Resources

Where can I get copies of documents from my student file?

Official transcripts must be ordered online through our partner National Student Clearinghouse.  Unofficial transcripts must be obtained through the student's CyberBear account.  Enrollment verifications may also be obtained online.  Review the Transcripts and Verifications page for details.

For other documents, come to the Registrar’s Office with a photo ID.  With the exception of transcripts, the Registrar’s Office only maintains undergraduate academic records.  A student’s transcript is retained in perpetuity.  Other academic records are purged after five years of the last semester on record.

Please contact the Curry Health Center for immunization or health records, the Financial Aid Office for federal aid documents, or the Student Accounts Office for financial records.
