Tech support scams occur when scammers pretend to be IT staff or technology companies to trick people into granting access to their devices or paying for fake services.

- Unsolicited phone calls or pop-ups
- Claims of viruses or security problems
- Requests to install remote access software
What You Should Know at UM
UM IT will never ask for your password, MFA codes, or payment information, and will not demand immediate action without prior context.
