How do I request Banner Batch Processing?

Summary

Data in the Banner system may need to be processed through various programs during off-peak usage hours or in a series with dependencies (e.g. process A needs to run to completion, followed immediately by process B). EIS uses the Automic Workload Application Suite to design and schedule these processes, which can use Banner delivered processes as well as any custom programs we have developed in support of business processes.

Body

Description

Data in the Banner system may need to be processed through various programs during off-peak usage hours or in a series with dependencies (e.g. process A needs to run to completion, followed immediately by process B). EIS uses the Automic Workload Application Suite aka UC4 to design and schedule these processes, which can use Banner delivered processes as well as any custom programs we have developed in support of business processes.

How to Request

Requests for batch processing services should be coordinated through the data steward responsible for the information needed (i.e., Registrar’s Office for student data) and via a request to the ET Jira Software system.

Charge

No charge.

Eligibility

All UM Students, Faculty, Staff, and Administrators are eligible for this service.

Availability

Services in this area are available if deemed appropriate by the data steward and as can be fit into the EIS development schedule.  Factors including dependencies, level of complexity, and availability of staff will influence timelines. Once completed, batch processes are normally automated to run at scheduled intervals, but can be submitted through operations on an “as needed” basis.

Support

For support, please enter a request in the ET Jira Software system.

Policy

Batch processing is at the discretion of the steward of the data being processed.
