Can I bring my own printer when I move to campus?

Yes! Students living in Residence Halls can bring printers with them with some caveats. We encourage users to connect their printer to their computer with the USB cable provided with the printer.  Most consumer printers do not support the type of wireless encryption used with our eduroam wireless network.  UM offers the ability to register your printer's MAC address to connect to our wireless network.  Please see our Wireless Self-Registration KB for the registration steps.

We strongly encourage users to disable any wireless hot-spot on their printer. It causes interference that affects the quality and strength of eduroam for everyone in the immediate vicinity. Please, out of courtesy for your neighbors, disable this feature of your desktop printer.
