Opt-In Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft 365

Request to enable Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for University of Montana Microsoft 365 accounts.

The Information Security Office (ISO) manages Duo MFA to help protect UM accounts from phishing and unauthorized access. While MFA is required for some roles and higher-risk accounts, this service allows individual employees or departments to voluntarily opt in for additional account protection.

Eligibility

  • UM employees

  • Departments requesting MFA for some or all of their staff; requests must be submitted by the employee, not on behalf of the employee.

Charge

There is no charge for this service.

Availability

Requests are reviewed Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (excluding university holidays).

Enrollment timing may vary depending on request scope (individual vs. department).
