GrizPortal User Guide

This is a guide to using the University of Montana’s information dashboard, GrizPortal.

Getting Started

First, log in to GrizPortal using your NetID and password.

Once you log in, you will be brought to the Home page, which will display an array of different “cards” designed to help access different kinds of information and services at UM. Some cards will display information directly, while others will guide you to another resource outside of GrizPortal.

Here is an example of what a Home page might look like for a UM student:

 

Customizing Your Home Page

You can customize your Home page in several ways. You can change the order of the cards by moving them, you can remove cards, or you can add cards.

To move a card:

• Select the topmost portion of the card with your cursor and drag it to the desired position, or
• Select the vertical ellipsis icon located at the top of each card, and chose “Move Backward” or “Move Forward.”

 

To remove a card: Select the bookmark icon on the card you would like to remove:

 

 

To add a card: Select "View All Cards." (Or, select the three-line “hamburger” icon at the top of the Home page to open the navigation menu, then select “All Cards.”)

 

Note: When this menu is open, a “Resources” dropdown option will be visible. This can be expanded to list additional useful links that will take you to other key parts of the UM website.

The All Cards page allows you to browse through all the cards that are available to you currently within GrizPortal. Each card has a bookmark icon in the upper right-hand corner. Cards with a filled-in bookmark icon are already visible on your Home page, while cards with the empty outline of a bookmark icon are not visible on your Home page. Click the bookmark to add or remove it from your Home page.

Exploring Cards

Once you have clicked to View All Cards, there are three tools that can assist you in finding more cards that may be of interest to you. These tools are the search bar, card tags, and sort option, all of which can be found at the top of the All Cards page.

 

 

The search bar allows you to look up cards by typing text into the search field. Begin typing, and it will pull up a list of possible options that best fit your search terms.

The card tags option allows you to search for cards that fit into certain categories, like "registration."

The sort option allows you to sort cards in alphabetical order (“A-Z”), cards saved to your Home page (“Saved”), or cards in the order they were created (“Newest”).

More cards will be added to this portal as they become available, so feel free to check them out as they arrive!

 

Additional Features

A few more features can be seen in the top right corner of the Home page:

 

1. The calendar icon will open a side menu to display a calendar and any tasks that have been assigned to you (or that you have created for yourself). These features are still under development.
2. The bell icon will open your notifications, including when a new card has been added to the GrizPortal.
3. Your user profile can be used to review the roles that you are assigned in GrizPortal (which determines card visibility) and some of your general personal information. Note: This area is under development. To see complete personal details, please use the "Personal Information" card.

To return to the Home page, simply click the University of Montana icon located near the top left of the page.
