SPSS & AMOS license agreement terms and conditions

University of Montana has entered into a Program License Agreement for IBM SPSS Campus Value Option with IBM International.

SPSS and AMOS authorization codes are made available to departmental IT staff for product activation on devices that are unable to activate SPSS and AMOS licensing through the Central SPSS licensing server. Stewards of SPSS and AMOS authorization codes are required to keep these codes secure at all times. You will be held responsible for unauthorized use of the authorization codes and software installations.

Specifically, UM may only use SPSS and AMOS for teaching and non-commercial academic research on computers owned or leased by UM. Non-commercial academic research means research by degree seeking students and faculty members where (i) the results of such research are not intended primarily for the benefit of a third party; (ii) such results are made available to anyone without restriction on use, copying or further distribution; and (iii) any copy of any such result is furnished for no more than the cost of hosting, reproduction, and shipping. Any other use including but not limited to university administration and operations is strictly prohibited.

UM's current IBM SPSS enterprise agreement includes free downloads on faculty and student personal computers. Please contact IT Central tor request this benefit.

When requesting SPSS and/or AMOS authorization codes, please agree to the following:

I acknowledge that I will be responsible for receipt of the SPSS and/or AMOS authorization codes granted to me through my university employment. It is my responsibility to safeguard the authorization codes. I agree to keep proper records relating to the authorization code use in my campus unit. I will record and retain:

  • Device name
  • Make/model
  • Serial number/service tag
  • Location (where the device will reside)

I understand that IBM and Central IT reserve the right to audit my campus unit during the term of this agreement.
