Office 365 for employees

Current UM employees who need to access MS Office to perform essential job functions can now download the latest version for UM work.  Use of UM software for private business purposes is prohibited.  You can install Microsoft Office 365 on up to five computers - PC or Mac - and five mobile devices - Apple iOS, Android and Windows Mobile, on either University owned or personally owned devices. The package includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access (PC only) for Windows and Mac.

Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus is easy to download and install. Authentication is tied to your UM domain account (first.last@umt.edu) and associated password.

  1. Before you start, uninstall previous versions of Microsoft® Office.
  2. Log in using your UM domain account (username@umt.edu, usually first.last@umt.edu) and associated password to the Microsoft Web App at: http://outlook.office365.com
  3. Once you are logged in to your account, click on the grid in the upper left corner of the screen. Then click on Office 365, which leads to the product download screen. You can download a single application or the full package.
  4. For each application, click Install.
  5. Choose Run or Save.
  6. The streaming installation will begin.
  7. A PowerPoint show will display to explain the new features of Microsoft® Office 365. While the show displays, the installation will continue in the background. Do not go offline or restart your computer until the installation is complete.
