Issues to Report using this Ticket:

  • Login Issues. Unable to log in.

  • Missing or Incorrect Supervisor. Report an employee with no direct manager, an employee missing from a manager’s direct reports list, or an employee with an incorrect direct manager.

Additional Information:

NEOED is the University of Montana Human Resource Software for managing staff and contract professional hiring searches, new hire paperwork, onboarding, training, and performance reviews.

When most employees log in to NEOED, they will be taken to a Dashboard where they can review assigned tasks, search an organization chart, create performance journal entries, complete their annual performance review, and access training. Hiring managers will be able to access information related to recruitments and new employee onboarding. Users with managerial and administrative permissions will be able to access administrative functions.

At this time, the following Human Resource functions are available in NEOED.

  1. Talent Acquisition for staff and contract professional positions, including job vacancy postings and job applicant review.
  2. Pre-Boarding and Onboarding for new faculty, staff, and contract professional employees, including new employee paperwork and new employee orientation activities.
  3. Training and Development for faculty, staff, and contract professional employees, including required and optional employee learning modules.
  4. Annual Performance Reviews for staff and contract professional employees, including performance journaling and performance evaluations. See Note below.

Note: Annual Performance review functions will be introduced for select departments beginning in 2026. Human Resource Services is working directly with managers of affected departments. If you do not have access to performance review functionality in NEOED, these functions have likely not been activated for your department. If you have questions about performance reviews in your department, please start by contacting your supervisor. If you have questions your supervisor is not able to address, email askhr@umontana.edu.

At this time, the following Human Resource functions are NOT available in NEOED.

  1. Hiring Requisition Origination for Staff and Contract Professional Positions. To originate a hiring requisition for staff and contract professionals, please create an Electronic Hiring Form (EHF) in UApprove. Functionality to originate requisitions will be implemented in NEOED in the future. Following EHF origination, any recruitment activities will be completed in NEOED.
  2. Faculty Recruitment. For faculty recruitment activities, please use Interfolio.
  3. Student Employee Recruitment and Hiring. For student employee recruitment activities, please use Handshake. To hire a student employee, an authorized user must submit an Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF) in GrizPortal.
  4. Graduate Employment Contracts. For the origination of graduate employment contracts, please use UApprove.
  5. Timekeeping. Several timekeeping systems are in use at the university. If you have questions about reporting your work hours or submitting your time card, please start by contacting your supervisor. If you have questions your supervisor is not able to address, email askhr@umontana.edu
  6. Personnel Transactions. Most personnel transactions cannot be completed in NEOED. This includes separations from employment, supervisor changes, FTE changes, Labor Distribution changes, etc. Updates to an employee’s direct deposit bank information, mailing address, and other items of personal information can be completed in GrizPortal. How do I log in to NEOED?

You can log in to NEOED using this link. It is important to use this link because it will take you to the University of Montana single sign on (SSO) page where you can use your NetID to log in. If you try to search for NEOED using Google or another search engine, you may be taken to another organization’s login page.

Still have trouble logging in? Make sure you are using an employee NetID (not a student NetID). Learn more about your NetID.

Members of hiring committees who are not employees of the university will receive separate login instructions.

Can students log in to NEOED?

In most cases, students do not have user accounts in NEOED, and they are not able to log in. This includes work study, non-work study, and graduate assistant employees. Students who are members of hiring committees will receive special login instructions.

Student employees who are required to complete Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training can complete that training at any time through the CITI Program. Additional instructions for completing the CITI Program training and obtaining your FERPA completion certification are published online by the UM Graduate School.

Why are certain trainings required?

How do I get a new training added to NEOED?

If you believe that the inclusion of a new training module in NEOED would be beneficial to the UM community, you can contact the Office of Organizational Learning and Development with your suggestions.

Can NEOED display my preferred name?

Not currently. Support for preferred name display is a product enhancement that NEOED plans to implement in the future.
