How do I add my employee email to my phone's mail client?

Overview

This article will walk you through how to add your employee email to your phone's email client and through the Outlook app.

Android

Through the Outlook App

  1. If you are prompted with a Get Started button Tap that, otherwise Tap on the 3-bar Menu icon in the upper left-hand corner, Tap on the gear and Tap +Add Account, add an email account
  2. Enter first.last@mso.umt.edu email address and Tap Continue
  3. REMOVE the MSO from the username on Microsoft Sign in page, Tap Next
  4. Enter your UM domain (email) password, Tap Sign in
  5. Setup is complete and you are now in your Inbox

In your devices "Accounts" menu

  1. Go  Settings, Tap Accounts and backup, Account, then Add Account.
  2. Tap the Outlook option
  3. Enter first.last@mso.umt.edu email address and Tap Continue
  4. REMOVE the MSO from the username on Microsoft Sign in page, Tap Next
  5. Enter your UM domain (email) password, Tap Sign in
  6. Setup is complete and you are now back in the Accounts list
  7. Open the Outlook app to read your email.

iOS

Through the Outlook App

  1. First time users will be placed in the Add Account window, if you are not Tap Menu, the gear for Settings,  Add Account, Add Email Account
  2. Enter your username@mso.umt.edu email address (usually first.last@mso.umt.edu) and Tap Add Account.
  3. Enter first.last@mso.umt.edu email address and Tap Continue
  4. REMOVE the MSO from the username on Microsoft Sign in page, Tap Next
  5. Enter your UM domain (email) password, Tap Sign in
  6. Setup is complete and you are now in your Inbox

In the "Settings -> Mail" Menu

  1. Go to Settings, Tap Passwords & Accounts,
  2. Tap Add Account then Tap Exchange
  3. .Enter your UM Email addressusername@mso.umt.edu (usually first.last@mso.umt.edu) and a short Description (such as UM Exchange). Tap Next
  4. Tap Sign In (Configure Manual will not work)
  5. Remove the MSO from the Microsoft Sign in name, Tap Next
  6. Enter your UM domain (email) password, Tap Sign in
  7. Tap Next. You may be asked to select Consent on behalf of your organization. This allows UM and the Mail app to work together. Tap Accept.
  8. Tap Save once you have turned on those components you want to sync.  You can come back and update settings here at any point.
  9. Setup is complete and you are now back in the Accounts list
  10. Open the Outlook app to read your email.
