Virtual private network (VPN) access

The University of Montana provides VPN services to those with a need to access resources only available on the UM network. Before attempting to use VPN, you must obtain permission to utilize UM's remote VPN software and enroll in multi-factor authentication. You must also abide by the University's acceptable use policies and agree to use your account according to these policies.

Please note that this form is only for requesting new access. If you're having trouble getting VPN to work, please submit a support ticket here.

How to request

Please click  the “Request Service” button at the top right hand side of the screen. When filling out the form, please list the service or software that you need a UM VPN connection for.  Please do NOT state that you need VPN to work remotely.

Eligibility

In general, VPN service is available to faculty and staff only.  However, there are circumstances that dictate access for students.

In any case, be sure to detail your need for the VPN on the form.

Availability

Form can be submitted at any time.  There is an approval process, however.  That approval process can take 24 to 48 hours on business days.
